[wxqc] Rain Gauge clogging

Does anyone have any ideas on keeping a Davis Rain Gauge from  
clogging?   Here in the Pacific NW, there are trees galore, and even  
with my gauge mounted near the top of my roof, well away from any  
trees or other 'debris generators'', it seems like I'm having to un- 
clog it at least 2-3 times/year (and of course, the times when I  
notice the clogs are NOT the times I want to be climbing my roof.
